Microsoft Weekly: New Windows 11 context menu, broken Defender scans, GTA 6 leaks, and more

This week's news recap is here, with Microsoft testing a redesigned Windows 11 context menu and better privacy controls, KB5121003 causing problems with apps and games, Defender scans breaking for some users, GTA 6 leaks getting worse, and more.

Here, we talk about everything happening around Microsoft's latest operating system in the Stable channel and preview builds: new features, removed features, controversies, bugs, interesting findings, and more. And, of course, you may find a word or two about older versions.

Last week's Patch Tuesday update is already causing trouble. Windows 11KB5121003 is reportedly preventing Teams and New Outlook from launching on some ARM64 devices, including the Surface Laptop 7, Surface Pro 11, and HP OmniBook 3. Interestingly, traditional Win32 apps like Classic Outlook, Word, and Excel appear to be unaffected, while modern MSIX and AppX apps fail to start. Users report that rolling back the update restores functionality.

And that's not the only potential KB5121003 problem, as Microsoft isalso investigating reports that the update is crashing games on Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2. The companyconfirmedthat the bug affectsARC Raiders, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, andThe Finals. Players of these games may get hit with EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION errors, crashes, and even unexpected system restarts.

Microsoft Defender had a rough week too. After Microsoft tried to address a zero-day flaw, users started reporting thatDefender could no longer complete Quick, Full, or Offline scans. Microsoft still hasn't officially confirmed the issue.

On a calmer note,Windows 365 officially turned five. Microsoft launched its cloud PC platform in 2021, mostly for business and enterprise customers. Five years later, the company is increasingly pushing Windows 365 toward AI, as it wants to use Cloud PCs as environments for running agents.

A few smaller items rounded out the week:

Here is what Microsoft released for Windows Insiders this week:

26340.9212 and 28120.2738 (26H1)

26220.9202 and 28020.2731 (26H1)
