Like in previous years, Gamescom is kicking off with another Opening Night Live showcase. Geoff Keighley is the host once again for the Germany-set event, the mind behind The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest platforms. The show is kicking off later today, and it already has a stacked list of announcements from a variety of publishers.
The 2026 Gamescom Opening Night Live event begins at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET / 8 PM CEST / 7 PM BST today, August 25. The show will be around two hours in length. There will be brand-new announcements, live presentations, surprises, and other video game-related reveals already lined up.
The live-hosted show can be caught on the official channels likeTwitch,YouTube, and other portals. For those who want to get caught up in the hype, a pre-show will lead into the main event starting at 10:30 AM PT.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt'snew expansionwill be unveiled at the showas one of the major reveals. The Songs of the Past story expansion fromCD Projekt REDis set to come out next year, and this will be the first time fans will get to see what this new Geralt adventure will bring.
Also confirmed for the event are games such asMetro 2039, Tides of Annihilation, Gears of War: E-Day, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation,andGame of Thrones: War for Westeros.A musical performance by Mewgenics is also confirmed for Opening Night Live.
Of course, being such a lengthy event, there could certainly be more gameplay showcases from soon-landing games likeControl Resonant, Onimusha, or Ace Combat 8,orCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
The Gamescom 2025 live show had announcements for high-profile projects like aBlack Myth: Wukong sequel,Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War 4,andLords of the Fallen II.While there aren't many rumors or leaks going around this time, expect to see a surprise or two at the event later today.
